  • Setting up and tending plating equipment and tanks, managing chroming tanks, mixing solutions, and monitoring parameters such as current density, surface tension and temperature
  • Immersing parts in chrome baths and applying current to deposit a durable chromium layer—overseeing immersion times and uniform coating results
  • Inspecting plated components for defects such as pitting, uneven coverage, or bubbles, and taking corrective actions as needed
  • Conducting quality checks using measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers) to verify coating thickness and finish accuracy
  • Performing routine maintenance of plating equipment and baths, filtering solutions, cleaning anodes, and ensuring safe chemical storage
  • Adhering strictly to safety protocols and environmental regulations for handling, disposal, and containment of hazardous materials

What We’re Looking For

  • Demonstrated experience as a Chrome Plater, with a strong understanding of plating processes
  • Proficiency in cleaning, preparation, plating, and inspection of metal components
  • Skilled in operating plating baths/tanks and controlling key process parameters
  • Strong attention to detail—able to identify and correct coating defects and maintain quality standards
  • Comfortable working with chemicals and heavy components—physically able and safety-conscious
  • Competent in using precision measurement tools to verify plating results
  • Reliable, proactive, and effective at working both independently and within a team
  • Current driver’s licence and reliable transport
  • Able to pass pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screening

Why You’ll Love Working Here

  • Day shift – 38 hours per week + overtime
  • Genuine opportunity to go permanent with HMG
  • Based in Pinkenba, close to the Gateway Bridge and Brisbane Airport
